Elder Care Doula

Over 80% of people prefer to stay in their own homes as they age, do they have access to resources to maintain independence? As the U.S. and many other countries experience a “Silver Tsunami,” we must prepare for the fact that roughly 20% of Baby Boomers do not have children of their own. Twilight Doulas have committed to the highest level of end-of-life education worldwide. It is not our goal to replace family members–even chosen family, nor to insert ourselves within a family. Twilight Doulas will perform as companions and advisors for clients and family members alike as they reach the transition of the twilight time together–as a family. That’s as it should be.

Aging is a challenge, and can be mentally and emotionally difficult at times, but living well into an age is an integral part of a longer life and should be an honor. Having people to count on and care about you or your loved ones brings not only a greater quality of life to a patient or client, but also incredible peace of mind to those who love them.

Elder Care Doulas are specifically trained to provide holistic, adjunct, non-medical care (physical, emotional, and spiritual) for the elderly. An Elder Care Doula can coach families and aging seniors by simply being a trusted companion through the aging process, as well as by providing ongoing support to both the aging client and their families at the time throughout the end-of-life process.

Due to the reality of the modern family structure, and our increasingly challenged medical system, we need additional options to support and care for our aging population–and additional ways to honor them within our community! It is time to give the elderly the reverence and care they deserve. Elder Care Doulas are trained in Assessment, Companionship, The Three Phases of Care, Local Resource Listing, and as Medical Chaperones. Because we are not compensated by Medicare or Medicaid, we have more freedom to spend time with you or your loved one when you need our consultancy, advice, companionship, or holistic care.
